KMS Server Activation for Microsoft Office 2010-2013
Instructions for activating Microsoft Office 2010-2013 on University owned computers using the KMS server.
*Please note: These instructions are only for University owned computers and requires connection to the University’s Key Management Server (KMS) and will only function on the
University’s network. If your machine will be used the majority of the time off network, it is reccomened you activate by a MAK provided by your departmental IT.
KMS Activation Keys

Switching from MAK Activation to KMS Activation on an AD.UC.EDU joined Computer
* Please Note: Commands will need to be ran using an Elevated Command Prompt window. *
- Type the following command, depending on your version of Office:
Ø Office 2010:
- 32-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
- 64-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
Ø Office 2013: - 32-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15
- 64-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files \Microsoft Office\Office15
- Type the following command to tell Microsoft Office to activate with KMS (substitute <product key> for the KMS Client key obtain from above:
Ø cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:<product key>
Ø Hit the Enter key (You should see the following if done successfully)
- Next type the following command to activate windows manually to verify you are using KMS:
Ø cscript ospp.vbs /act
Ø Hit the Enter key (You should see the following if done successfully)

Switching from MAK Activation to KMS Activation on a computer NOT joined to AD
* Please Note: Commands will need to be ran using an Elevated Command Prompt window. *
- Type the following command, depending on your version of Office:
Ø Office 2010:
- 32-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
- 64-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
Ø Office 2013: - 32-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office15
- 64-Bit Version
- CD \Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15
- Type the following command to tell Microsoft Office to activate with KMS (substitute <product key> for the KMS Client key obtain from above:
Ø cscript ospp.vbs /inpkey:<product key>
Ø Hit the Enter key (You should see the following if done successfully)
- Type the following command to manually specify the hostname of UC’s KMS Host:
Ø cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:ucapmeiw11.ad.uc.edu
Ø Click the Enter key (You should see the following if done successfully)
- Next type the following command to activate windows manually to verify you are using KMS:
Ø cscript ospp.vbs /act
Ø Hit the Enter key (You should see the following if done successfully)
